ABOUT THE FOUNDATION

Truckee’s parks and recreation facilities—the fields, courts, trails, and courses—are central to our community. The Truckee Recreation & Park Foundation exists to help build the next generation of these spaces.

Founded in 2024 as a 501(c)(3) organization, we support the Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District, which has served the community since 1963. While the District manages day-to-day operations and keeps facilities accessible, its budget is fully committed to maintenance. Building new facilities requires additional funding, which is where the Foundation steps in. Our community has expressed interest in projects such as an expanded skate park, pickleball courts, turf athletic fields, neighborhood and all-abilities playgrounds, a teen center, and an indoor field house. With the support of volunteers, donors, and local businesses, we work to bring these projects to life.

OUR CURRENT PROJECT: THE POLARIS DISC GOLF COURSE
The Polaris Disc Golf Course is a collaborative effort between four organizations: the Truckee Donner Land Trust (providing the Old Greenwood property), the Rec & Park District (initiating the project), the Truckee Disc Golf Club (providing the vision), and the Foundation (raising the necessary funds).
 
This new 18-hole course will be free and open to everyone, designed to accommodate both beginners and experienced players. The name honors the North Star and the historic ice-farming community that once occupied the land. Every dollar raised stays local to support this project.
