Aim High for High School

Our Mission:

 Aim High creates life-changing opportunities during the summer and beyond. Our community:

• Nurtures the promise and potential of middle school students from low-income neighborhoods
• Prepares students for high school, setting them on the path to college and future successes
• Inspires the next generation of teachers and educational leaders 

Our Program:

For five weeks each summer, students entering grades 6-9, ages 11-14 attend Aim High campuses located in their communities. They take academic courses taught by talented and inspired teachers and engage in a variety of enrichment activities. Aim High reinforces academic skills, exposes students to new passions, and cultivates a college-bound mindset. Many of our graduates return to the program as volunteers and teachers to give back to the program they love. 

Why Our Work Matters:

• Summer Transforms - Nearly all the differences in achievement between youth from low-income neighborhoods and their more advantaged peers can be attributed to summer learning opportunities. 
• Middle School Counts - Middle school achievement is a better predictor for high school graduation and college attainment than high school performance.   
• Pivotal Periods - When students feel supported and engaged during middle school and summer, they have the confidence and resilience to succeed. Aim High guides students through these transitions by providing a safe space to learn, grow, make friends, and take risks.   

Aim High celebrated 38 years of service in 2023. Since 1986, Aim High has grown from one campus to 19 and has served more than 15,000 students.
