The Boosting Hope Greater Tahoe Basin program identifies, encourages, and enables high-potential, first-generation, low-income, and underserved local high school students to pursue a college education. Our program includes the eight Tahoe Basin public high schools and spans two states and four school districts. 

Boosting Hope is committed to expanding pathways to success through post-secondary educational opportunities. 

The Boosting Hope program complements existing California and Nevada state Promise Programs by offering “Promise Plus” support to community college students. Through our guided pathways model, the program helps close the gap between enrollment and completion rates through mentorship, college and career navigation assistance, and stipends for essential expenses.

Selected high school graduates are paired with mentors and become Boosting Hope Scholars in our Boosting Hope Network, which provides sustained, individualized mentoring and financial guidance throughout their two-year or four-year college journeys. 

Greater Lake Tahoe Basin, Navigating Pathways to Success Program 

Many underserved and first-generation students lack family guidance, financial resources, and exposure to college pathways. As a result, students struggle to navigate admissions, financial aid, course selection, and academic planning, which leads to disengagement and dropout. Our program helps students overcome these barriers and build the tools and confidence to succeed in college.

The Navigating Pathways to Success Program promotes post-secondary education for students in the Tahoe Basin by empowering and encouraging students to complete community college and either transfer to a four-year institution or confidently enter the workforce with individualized guidance and support. Our program aspires to create multigenerational change in Tahoe Basin communities by promoting advanced postsecondary education for all high school students. 

The Greater Lake Tahoe Basin is a unique micro-community, spanning two states, multiple school districts, and eight high schools. The schools share a geographic landscape but operate individually in their college messaging. We want to unite Tahoe Basin students and educators under a unified umbrella of post-secondary education goals. As students complete the program and join the Network of Hope, we hope they will “pay it forward” for future generations by inspiring younger students and contributing to economic growth in the community post-graduation.

Network of Hope

Each scholar becomes a member of our Network of Hope, a supportive community of peers, mentors, alumni, and industry partners. This network offers ongoing encouragement, professional exposure, and career guidance, ensuring students are supported not only through college but also as they transition into the workforce. A defining feature of the program is continuous access to a dedicated mentor who provides consistent, personalized support.
