Fellowship of Compassion - A Community for All. Serving All.
Our Mission: Compassion in Action:
We serve those who are often overlooked by providing resources, support, and hope. We meet people where they are-with dignity, without judgment, and with practical help that makes everyday survival possible. We walk alongside people on their path from survival to thriving, through our Collective Empowerment program with the help of mentors and our community.
The Story of Neighbors Helping Neighbors:
Every day in Truckee-Tahoe, people face challenges most never see. A job loss. A medical crisis. A sudden rent increase. A critical medical appointment, or court appearance-without transportation to get there .
For many, it doesn't take much to fall into housing insecurity. And once it happens, climbing back up can feel impossible without community support.
At Fellowship of Compassion, we step into these moments with open hearts, offering what every person deserves: . compassion, dignity, and help on the path toward stability.

Hunger Has Many Faces:
One of our members recently visited a friend—let's call him John—and brought a few sandwiches. As they talked, John ate one..then another...then a third. Finally she asked gently, "when was the last time you ate?"
“Two days ago,” he said.
Hunger often hides behind a brave smile. For those without refrigeration or a safe place to store food, eating becomes a daily obstacle. Quiet struggles like John's are all around us, even if they're not visible.

Kris's Story: A New Beginning Made Possible by Community
Kris never imagined he would lose nearly 20 years to addiction. After losing his mother at 18, grief pulled him into alcohol and drugs. Over time, addiction cost him his health, relationships, and stability.
In November 2024, Kris made a courageous choice: he entered rehab, completed treatment, and continued recovery in sober-living. With his mentor by his side, he has remained committed to sobriety for nearly a year
"I'm rebuilding my life piece by piece, and I'm not giving up," he says.
Today, the barriers standing between Kris and stable employment are a security deposit, short term rent support, and reliable transportation - the basic building blocks of a stable life. With the support of this community, Kris can step into the healthy future he is fighting for every day.
