The Stephen J. Wampler Foundation was founded with a simple mission,

“To provide life-changing experiences to children with physical disabilities”.

Camp Wamp is a free, week-long summer camp in the wilderness of the Sierras in northern California. We welcome kids with physical disabilities between the ages of 8-18 from all over the U.S. Camp Wamp was founded by Steve Wampler, who has a severe form of cerebral palsy. Steve was forever transformed by a wilderness camp as a child, so he created Camp Wamp to offer the same kind of life-changing experiences to kids with disabilities today.

This year, we’re asking our Camp Wamp family to help fund a backup generator for camp. This single piece of equipment keeps our campers safe during power outages, ensures wheelchairs stay charged, and allows our medical team to run essential systems through the night. Thanks to a generous matching donor, reaching our $10,000 goal will unlock the full cost of the $16,000 generator. The remaining $4,000 will fully replenish our First Aid supplies and camper medications for the 2026 season.

There is no fee for a child to attend Camp Wamp.  The cost is covered 100% by donations.

Mission

Our purpose is to make sure every child, regardless of ability, feels safe, valued, and loved as they explore the outdoors. From that foundation, they discover the confidence that leads to a life shaped by optimism, independence, and joy.
