What we’re about

We are passionate outdoor community members working voluntarily to help cultivate responsible [and RAD] mountain bike recreation through a collaborative three-tiered approach.

With sustainability, community involvement, and economic vitality at its core, Truckee Dirt Union is working to harness the momentous growth within the outdoor space to create positive outcomes for the environment that holds it.

TDU is focused on creating a sustainable future through a three-tiered collaborative approach involving:

Community Activation and Cultivation

Stewardship and Education

Access and Outreach Advocacy

Giving Activity

Mission

The mission of TDU is to create positive outcomes for mountain biking which is supported by three pillars:

• Sustainability: TDU strives to build and maintain trails to minimize environmental impact.

• Community: Recognizing the importance of a strong riding community, TDU fosters connections and camaraderie among mountain bikers through events, group rides, and volunteer opportunities aiming to create robust volunteer resources.

• Advocacy: TDU actively engages with land managers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to advocate for the responsible development of new trails and for the protection, maintenance and improvement of existing mountain bike trails.

TDU’s unique approach pairs volunteer-driven community trail work and collaborative community/land manager partnerships. TDU seeks to add structure, quality, and value to the greater area’s stewardship framework and to add volunteer labor resources to popular, near-to-Truckee trail systems. As a result, TDU’s 800 plus person Volunteer Trail Force was born to help cultivate positive outcomes for the outdoor community in the most authentic and transparent way possible through a unique community stewardship club model.
