Museum of Truckee History is a timeline of Life, Individuals, Industry, and Railroading in and around Truckee thru the professional display of artifacts and exhibits. Truckee is the main corridor across the Sierras for: 

  • The early Indian crossings and their summer camps,

  • The westward bound pioneer emigrations, 

  • The Transcontinental Railroad and

  • The highways of Interstate-80, US-40, Lincoln Highway & Dutch Flat Road 

  • Along this path, the following industries developed:

  • Logging 

  • Ice harvesting 

  • Tourism 

  • Truckee has survived the wild times of Jibboom street, the fun of the ice palace and benefited from the visions of Charles McGlashan.

Mission

The mission of the Museum of Truckee History is to bring alive Truckee’s history by illustrating the stories of its major industries thru the professional display of artifacts and exhibits, the creation of documentary films, and access to scheduled lectures, educational programs, and research facilities
