Support the Next Generation of Lake Tahoe’s Protectors

The UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) is shaping the next generation of scientists and educators who are dedicating their futures to protecting fragile, irreplaceable ecosystems like the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Each summer, TERC hosts an intensive eight-week internship program for eight outstanding recent graduates. These interns work side-by-side with our researchers and education team on real-world environmental projects in the Tahoe Basin and beyond. They gain hands-on scientific experience, mentorship from world-class experts, and the skills to communicate their discoveries to the public through outreach events, social media, and community presentations.

This program is transformative — not only for the students but for the future of environmental science. However, for many, financial barriers make it difficult to participate. By providing stipends and housing assistance, we ensure that this opportunity remains accessible to all passionate and deserving students, regardless of economic background.
