OUR MISSION
Clean Up The Lake protects Lake Tahoe and the Eastern Sierra by removing underwater litter, monitoring aquatic invasive species, and supporting lake stewardship through science and education. Our dive team works year round in cold water and challenging conditions to clean the lake from the bottom up. Since 2018 we have removed more than eighty eight thousand pounds of trash and continue to expand our impact through community partnerships, youth programs, and ongoing environmental monitoring. Our mission is to preserve the clarity and health of these waters so future generations can experience the same beauty we do today. Our work goes beyond cleanups. We monitor aquatic invasive species, run youth programs, and support lake protection efforts through science and stewardship.
FUEL THE MISSION
Most people enjoy Lake Tahoe from the surface. We enjoy it from fifty feet below. Clean Up The Lake dives beneath the water to protect what lies unseen. We are the folks in drysuits hauling tanks down snowy launch ramps, towing boats to remote coves, and collecting trash from the bottom of one of the most beautiful lakes on earth. Our team is built on grit, passion, and a deep love for Lake Tahoe.
If it sinks, we will find it. And if it does not belong there, we will haul it back out.
At the heart of the Sierra sits one of the clearest lakes on earth. But beneath the surface hides what lies unseen underwater litter, aquatic invasive species and microplastics. That is where Clean Up The Lake steps in.
We are gearing up for our winter dive season and our longtime ride, Rhonda the Honda Pilot, finally gave out after 303,000 legendary miles. Rhonda hauled dive tanks, towed the jetski, carried our trash trailer, and got us through every kind of weather the Mother Earth could throw at us. She earned her retirement.
Now we need a reliable used vehicle to take her place. Something that can tow, haul, climb steep Tahoe roads, survive snowy launch ramps, and reach the coves and access points where our divers do the real work.
By sponsoring a part of this new vehicle, you help us haul tanks and kayaks, load safety gear, launch the jetski, reach rugged cleanup sites, and keep spreading awareness across the region. Every gift fuels the mission and keeps our divers in the water protecting what lies unseen.
